Student 骚扰 and Bullying Prevention and Intervention (DASA)

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Community Members:

In 2010, New York State passed the Dignity for All Students Act, otherwise known as DASA. 这条法律, which went into effect on July 1, 2012, is designed to provide students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, 骚扰, and 欺凌 on school property, 一辆校车, or at a school sponsored event. It provides that no student shall be subjected to discrimination based on his or her actual or perceived race, color, 国家的起源, 少数民族, 宗教, religious practice, 残疾, sexual orientation, 性别认同, 重量, or any other physical characteristic. In addition, DASA regulations have been updated to include cyber欺凌.

Deer Park UFSD has reviewed and updated its policies regarding 骚扰, 欺凌, and cyber欺凌 in order to be in compliance with the DASA regulations. Our updated policies can be found at nmetdc.muerren.net, under the Board of Education tab at the top of the web page.

Dignity Act coordinators have been appointed for each of the school buildings within Deer Park UFSD. Each of these coordinators has been specially trained in order to properly handle situations which may arise.

The staff at Deer Park UFSD remains committed to our mission statement that we provide every student exemplary programs of study within a safe, healthy and nurturing environment.
